5 Products Announcements At The Apple September 2016 Keynote Event

The widely publicized launch from Apple on Wednesday, had championers of the tech giant and others alike celebrating the long list of new and exciting products now available.

Apple Music


CEO Tim Cook kicked off the launch on his way to the keynote event, with popular talk show host James Cordon and musician Pharrell singing songs in the car, using Cordon’s signature series Carpool Karaoke, which has now been integrated into Apple Music. With a bold new design, the music streaming facility now offers a personalized playlist creator known as Discovery Mix. Also introduced is a cleaner interface with lyrics embedded into it.

iOS 10


Next was the official debut of latest operating system, iOS 10. With an all new application called ‘Home’, you can now access all of your devices that are on your HomeKit, at just a click of a button. The improved iMessage now offers a wide array of animated stickers, an individual message response option and full-screen animation effects with options like confetti and fireworks. The new OS has also upgraded Apple Photos, which now has the ability to create slideshows of your photos automatically and allows you to view your old images with the added ‘Memories’ button. Apple has also made the popular game Super Mario available on the app store. Security is another important feature that has been improved in the iOS 10, with a new warning system that alerts you when you connect to WiFi networks.

Apple Watch Series 2


One of the most exciting announcements made during the event, the stunning new Apple Watch is now sleeker, faster and finally waterproof! With outdoor and indoor swimming features, the watch is now equipped to record your water-based workout and eventually eject any water that enters through the speaker. The company has partnered with Nike, to release the special Apple Watch Nike+, a watch specially modified for runners. The watch has also been fitted with its own GPS capability, enabling you to make use of the added Hiking application even when you are out in the middle of nowhere. You can now also play Pokemon Go right from your watch. A range of new wrist bands is now available with sleek muted colours as well as brightly coloured options to choose from.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus


Finally released watch the much anticipated and awaited, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The classic smooth and glossy look has only become smoother, with the removal of the home button that has been replaced with a force sensitive button which has a touch response feature. Apple has also done away with the standard headphone jack leaving in place the Lightening connector jack. Storage has been bumped up to 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB, with the 16 GB option officially phased out. A front camera of 7 MP and a rear camera of 12 MP has been fitted into both the 7 and the 7 Plus, however the latter takes it a notch higher, with a dual 6-element camera lens.



One of the most speculated items of the launch however, was the breakthrough Apple AirPods. Gone are the days of spending hours untangling headphone wires. A completely wireless device, these earphones have an inbuilt battery, with a battery like of up to 5 hours and can be easily connected to any Apple gadget via Bluetooth.

With a line-up like this, it truly feels like Christmas come early for Apple enthusiasts.

Mobile Upgrades: Killing The Product Before Its Time?

Have to agree. The speed of newer phone models within the same series and newer app versions lead to more thought put into buying decisions. Phone lines have a definite short shelf life

Frequently upgrading the software is a real problem as updating the software might cause your phone to lag because of the older hardware.
