5 Tech Giants Create Historic Partnership On AI

AI

Though we may not realize it, Artificial Intelligence has been a part of our lives for a good while now. From personal assistants like Siri, Alexa and Cortana, to smart cars, online purchase predictions, video games and suggestions for news, movies and music, artificial intelligence is integrated into our lives at every other turn.

In a historic move, tech giants Google, IBM, Amazon, Facebook and Microsoft have created an alliance called Partnership on AI. This step has been taken in order to better understand the tech and create a more trustworthy system.

These companies will join together to discuss advancements and to undertake research on AI. They also plan to ideate on how new services and products that run on machine learning can be developed. The five tech companies stated that their objective was to ‘address opportunities and challenges with AI technologies to benefit people and society’.

Partnership on AI plans to conduct research on areas like ethics and collaboration between AI systems and humans. This research will all be open-sourced. The alliance also intends to work together with other AI organisations such as the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence has the ability to have major positive impacts for society at a global level. These impacts will all be possible with advancements in AI in areas like transportation, healthcare and connectivity.
