5 Things You Must Know About the Nintendo Switch
Nintendo is a name that has long been associated with video games, whether it was because of Super Mario, Wii or Game Boy consoles.
However, following the slow demise of Game Boy’s, the company sunk a few notches below companies like Microsoft and Sony. In an attempt to regain its position at the top of the list, the Japanese company recently launched the Nintendo Switch, an adaptable and portable console.
For all those thinking of buying the Nintendo Switch, here are five things that you absolutely must know about the console.
Portability to the next level
Nintendo spearheaded the handheld gaming console market with its Game Boy, DS and the 3DS console. While there was a clear restriction in the abilities of these earlier devices, this is not the case with the Nintendo Switch.
When you switch the console from its central dock, to a handheld device, the only difference in the specifications is that you will go from viewing your game on a large full-HD screen, to a small 720 pixels touchscreen that’s of 6.7 inches. Changing from the main docked console to a handheld device is very easy and quick too.
Joy-Con: Two controllers in one
The tablet is not the only part of the console which can adapt. The Nintendo Switch also features two controllers named the ‘Joy-Con’. These can either be clipped onto an additional grip when you are using the tablet docked into a TV screen, or if you are playing with another person, you can simply each use one ‘Joy-Con’ horizontally as a full individual controller. For handheld gaming, the two controllers can be easily clipped onto either side of the tablet.
You will need to accessorize!
While you always need to purchase additional games with any new console, when you buy the Nintendo Switch, you will also need to pick up a few extra accessories. This includes an external microSD card of up to 128GB and an alternate charging grip for the Joy-Con, among other additions.
‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’ is an Absolute Must Play
Even before the launch of the new Legend of Zelda games, the previews and reviews are only filled with positives. Breath of the Wild seems to be a game that was made specifically for the Nintendo Switch console. The game is filled with exciting new areas to explore and tons of puzzles to solve.
The line-up of other games may disappoint
As of now, there are not a lot of other truly enticing options for gamers, with the Nintendo Switch. Games like the ‘1-2 Switch’, which is a focused on multiplayer mode, is a good game that was created especially for this console. While there is a line-up of interesting games set to debut on the Switch, including titles like Skyrim and Mario Kart 8, most users will have to wait until much later in the year to enjoy experiencing the console to its full potential.
