Indian-origin smartphone manufacturer Lava recently launched the latest A-series model in its line of budget devices. Packed with a host of good quality features, this is a great value for money product.

The A97 features a FWVGA (full wide video graphics array) TFT (thin film transistor) display that is found in LCD TVs. The screen is of 5 inches and has a resolution of 480 pixels by 854 pixels. While it is not HD, you can still enjoy watching high-quality videos with a steady clarity, on this smartphone.

Lava has fitted the A97 with Android’s Marshmallow v6.0 and a dual SIM capability. While the device supports 4G LTE, this feature can only be utilized in one SIM and not both together.

A primary camera of 5 megapixels is placed on the back, along with an LED flash for low light conditions. The camera supports panorama, geo-tagging and HDR quality images. You can also take videos with a quality of 720p and 30fps (frames per second). So even though you cannot capture HD quality images or videos, the picture quality suits the price range. There is a front camera that is also of 5 megapixels has a flash next to it as well. For selfie lovers on a budget, this phone is certainly a good option.

Powering the A97 is a quad-core processor of 1.3GHz and a RAM of 1GB capacity. This makes multitasking on the device a bit of a problem, as it will slow it down. Those who are hoping to play heavier games will have to look for another smartphone. The inbuilt storage capacity of the A97 is of 8GB, however it can easily be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.

A battery with a capacity of 2350mAh is built into the phone and offers a battery life of up to 15 hours approximately. There are also features like the Google Doze integrated so that you can maximize the battery life of your device. With GPS, 3G, 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth and FM capabilities, the A97 has sufficient connectivity options.

Available in 12 different Indian languages, this is a good phone for those who are more comfortable operating on a regional language. The Lava A97 can be bought in one of three colours namely, Grey, Blue and Gold and it will retail for a pocket-friendly price of Rs. 5949. For those who purchase the phone before November 16, Lava is offering a free screen-replacement for up to a year.

They should come out with upgrades for the specific phones and not for the separate Operating System. This way a special version for your phones specific hardware can be made
