Cool 1 Dual Makes A Splash

Chinese smartphone manufacturers Coolpad and LeEco recently joined forces to collaborate and create the Cool 1 Dual smartphone.

The device has finally made its way to the Indian sub-continent and with specifications like the ones offered in this device, the future of this phone seems good.

Coolpad

With a sleek metal body that has a matte finish, the Cool 1 Dual smartphone stands out without attracting dust and fingerprints like a glossy-finish would. The display has a fairly thick bezel around it with capacitive buttons that are backlit, placed on the bottom for navigating.

The phone has an LED for notifications as well as an infrared emitter on top. It also features a USB Type-C port placed between the speakers on the bottom, and a fingerprint sensor on the rear, for quick access.

In terms of the display, the Cool 1 Dual has a full-HD IPS display of 5.5 inches that offers good viewing from angles and bold colours. The phone is also fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect your device from bumps and scratches.

Powering the Cool 1 Dual is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC octa-core processor and two extra ARM Cortex-A72 cores. The smartphone also comes with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM when you purchase it online. This allow it to handle multitasking with ease and smoothly open up even heavy apps. Offered with a non-expandable storage capacity of 32GB, this device is not a great option for those who require more space.

The Cool 1 Dual is fitted with a primary rear camera of 13MP that has two lenses, while one sensor is for collecting monochrome data, the other sensor is for colour data. This is said to cut down the noise in images and allow users to capture low-light images that are a lot more detailed.

Unfortunately, this has not been fully-achieved and while the video quality is of 4K, the stills tend to be grainy in low-light. For selfie lovers, the front camera of 8MP should allow users to take good-quality photos in bright light, however this too suffers in poor lighting.

Dual

LeEco and Coolpad’s Cool 1 Dual has ditched the Cool UI interface for LeEco’s EUI. While the main interface is quite different from the stock Android version, the OS is largely free of any additional bloatware, save for a few preloaded applications.

Connectivity options for this phone include Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi b/g/n, FM radio, GPS and USB-OTG. This dual SIM smartphone also supports 4G LTE, however both SIM cards must be Nano SIMs. Packed with a battery that has a capacity of 4000mAh, the Cool 1 Dual offers a battery life of approximately a day and a half with regular usage, or 13 hours when watching HD videos.

Priced at Rs. 13,999, the Cool 1 Dual is certainly a good option for all those who are looking for a budget smartphone that performs smoothly. With a clear display, a strong battery life and a great design, the Cool 1 Dual will surely do well.

Mobile Upgrades: Killing The Product Before Its Time?

Have to agree. The speed of newer phone models within the same series and newer app versions lead to more thought put into buying decisions. Phone lines have a definite short shelf life

Frequently upgrading the software is a real problem as updating the software might cause your phone to lag because of the older hardware.

They should come out with upgrades for the specific phones and not for the separate Operating System. This way a special version for your phones specific hardware can be made
