Here you will get a 3340mAh removable battery. The screen size is slightly bigger which are 5.7-inches compared to 950’s 5.2-inches, with the same resolution of 1440p and covered in Gorilla Glass 4. The device is a little heavier at 165 grams, and a little dieter at 8.1mm.
Coming to the features, both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL have Liquid cooling technology. It is to keep the chipset from getting heated up. Like the company says, it will help improve the Snapdragon 810 overheating issues.
Both the handsets are the first to run Windows 10 Mobile, which is the mobile edition of Microsoft’s new operating system. Along with it, Microsoft incorporates Continuum into both the handsets. With the Windows 10 Continuum feature, the handsets can be connected to a monitor along with a mouse and a keyboard, using the Microsoft Display Dock. Once it is connected, the phone’s user interface will look like a Windows 10 desktop.
Apart from the improved Cortana support, it also brings several changes to apps like Messaging, OneDrive, Camera, Office Mobile, photos and people. It also comes with the one-handed mode feature.
Both the phones are equipped with optical image stabilization, a dedicated camera shutter release and a triple LED flash. Each one has a 6-lens camera on the rear, f/1.9 aperture with 20- megapixel. On the front, it’s the same 5-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera that can shoot 1080p video. The rear camera can shoot 4K video at 30fps.
The Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL are also amongst the first Lumia handsets to come with USB Type-C port i.e. the data cable could be inserted with any of the sides placed up. Also it will charge faster. Microsoft is using the USB 3.1 in order to improve transfer rates and audio-visual capacities.
The handsets also feature Windows Hello, a feature that will authenticate the handsets to unlock the device by its facial-recognition capacity without the user having to login with the credentials everytime.
Unlike Lumia 930 that would offer only upto FHD display, both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL support QHD displays. Also the handsets come with adaptive antenna technology. With this feature, users will get the best reception signals.
The last flagship Phone Microsoft had released was the Lumia 930 which was released last year. With the company definitely looking to enhance its mobile business labours, the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL are an answer to Microsoft’s attempted revival.
