How To Block A Number On Smartphone

Calls from unwelcome persons or companies has increased a lot after the increase in usage of cell phones. In this article we shall show you how to block these disturbances on your smartphone.

As the design of smartphone does differ depending on the OS we will list down the different methods as per the manufacturer. Some phones do not have the feature and you will have to use a third party app.

Block calls on a Samsung phone

The gigantic Korean manufacturer has an Auto-Reject list to block calls on Samsung phones. To access tap on the Phone icon on your home screen. Now select the number you want to block, its details will be displayed, tap the More option in the top right hand corner of the screen. You will find the option Add to Auto-Reject List appear. Tap this and now whenever this specific number calls you, the call will be rejected.

Block calls on an LG phone

On LG handsets tap the Phone icon on the home screen, then tap the three dots in the top right corner. A menu will be displayed and go to Call Settings>Call reject>Reject calls from. Now just tap the Plus icon and you can add the numbers which you want to block. You can also pick any number from your Call Logs or Contact list.

Block calls on an HTC phone

On HTC it is much easier as on the Home screen you have to simply tap the Phone icon, then swipe in from the right so that you can access your call log. Press long on the number to be blocked and another is displayed, this time with an option to ‘Block contact’, tap OK. This will block all future calls.

Using third-party solutions to block calls in Android

While the above brands have an in-built feature others do not have this option from their platforms. Google’s Nexus allows you to send callers directly to voicemail, but this is not a great solution. But you can install application that can help you. Avast, anti-virus software on your phone, offers you this service. Also you can download apps such as Truecaller or Mr Number which can block numbers.

Block call on iOS 7 and iOS 8

Tap the phone app at bottom of your home screen, you will see ‘Recents’. On tapping this it will show you recent callers. Click the “I” next to the number you wish to block. Scroll down and you will see the option to ‘Block this Caller’. Choose your option and tap on it.

You can also block contacts that are saved on your phone through the Settings app. Go to Settings and scroll down and you will come across a feature called ‘Blocked’. This will display a list of blocked contacts. Click on “Add New” and it will take you to your contact list, choose the contact you wish to block.
