Top 5 Nintendo 3DS Games

As Nintendo 3DS turned 4 this year, we thought of putting together a list of top five must play games you have to have on your 3DS. Whether you’ve just grabbed a new 3DS system or are merely looking at strengthening your on-the-go game collection, here are our picks for the best games on Nintendo’s handheld.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon

It’s a giddy blend of journeying, puzzle solving and ghost busting, completed with a vacuum cleaner to help you detain spectral nasties. Sporting some of the best production values to grace the 3DS, it’s conceivably one of the best offbeat games you must play. You can get it digitally or import a copy via Play Asia.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Capcom’s compelling Monster Hunter series got its start on PlayStation but has since, found enough audience as one of the most hardcore action role-playing franchises on Nintendo 3DS. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is the newest development of the franchise, which, as its title advocates, has you and up to three friends commencing on epic beast-slaying quests while possessing an array of equally epic-looking weapons.

This latest sequel adds an improved online multiplayer, bright environments and fresh upright actions that let you take out monsters with a shattering leap from the above. Add in some gorgeous costumes enthused by Nintendo and Capcom mascots, and you’ve got a riveting action RPG package that’s hard to resist.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was the initial Zelda game made solely for the Nintendo 3DS, set in the fan-favourite world of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. An audacious adventure awaits Link in Hyrule, where he can use his new skill to become a “drawing” and move along walls of dungeons. This opens up ways to discover and puzzle fundamentals that give link to locations he could not otherwise reach.

Mario Kart 7

The famous Mario Kart series of racing games has been around for a while, but there’s still ample gas in the tank. Mario Kart 7 brings the famous moustachioed plumber along with Bowser, Luigi, Princess Peach and more, as well as your own custom-made “Mii” avatars that connect your profile across all Nintendo consoles.

Mario Kart 7 is grand for solo gaming on the go, and you can play multiplayer with close by friends over local wireless or with anyone in the world via Nintendo Network.

Pokémon Omega Ruby

This one will take players on an expedition like no other as they assemble battle and trade Pokémon while trying to stop a shadowy group with strategies to change the Hoenn region forever. Go on board on a new adventure through the Hoenn region, an area rich in natural beauty, which incorporates a cave that shows a scene explained in legends. Confront the wonder of Primal Reversion, a new, tremendously powerful alteration undergone by Legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre.

These are just five of our favourite games on the 3DS, but there are loads of other games to pick from. Which ones are your favourites? Tell us, via the comments.
