Uber Forges Partnership With Cleartrip

The taxi-hailing application, Uber has partnered-up with the travel company Cleartrip in India. This partnership will result in the addition of new features to each platform based on the functions of each other’s services. Here is a peek at what you can expect.

When a ride is in progress, Uber users will be able to check out recommendations from Cleartrip based on where they are. These suggestions will range from experiences, events and other things to do around you. In addition to this, when booking a local activity or even an airplane ticket from Cleartrip, you can simultaneously book an Uber ride through the same app. This is now possible without switching from one app to the other.

If you are using Cleartrip to help plan your short trip out of town, then this feature is sure to be very handy. This integration of Cleartrip into the Uber app is the taxi-company’s response to Google adding a cab-booking capability to their Maps app.

Cleartrip Local is the first platform in the country that has integrated the API (application programming interface) of Uber, to allow users to book cabs and also discover local events. The recommendations are made after being filtered according to the time, day and destination of the user.

Uber is set to add more and more features to their app over the next few months. One of these will be the ability to link the Uber app to a users’ smartphone calendar, so that meetings and other appointments can be tracked more easily. Once you have connected the two, Uber will be able to display your meetings in the reminders section.

Another cool feature that will be launched soon is the ability to directly book a ride through your phone contacts. This means that rather than choosing a destination, you will simply have to choose a person.

The company will also be releasing a new app called UberEATS in India soon. This is said to be a separate app that is exclusively for food delivery, similar to Zomato and Swiggy.

Do you think this new feature will make planning a trip easier? What features would you like to see included in the Uber app?

Have to agree. The speed of newer phone models within the same series and newer app versions lead to more thought put into buying decisions. Phone lines have a definite short shelf life

Frequently upgrading the software is a real problem as updating the software might cause your phone to lag because of the older hardware.
