Whatsapp’s GIF Update Now Lets You Emote with Animations!

With a plethora of options right in the palm of your hand, saying smartphones will leave you spoilt for choices is a gross understatement. It is no surprise that users of what is touted as the most widely used instant messaging app were impatient for the use of animations in their conversations. The lack of a GIF usage might have irked a niche of users. With app developers competing against time to bring the best of features out, many had wondered what was taking WhatsApp this long to introduce GIFs. Well fret not! The latest beta versions for Android and iOS has finally found a fix for this.

You can now bring your conversations alive without the memory space occupied by a video. Included in the WhatsApp beta version v2.17.6 version, the animated function is as simple as one can expect. The next time you switch to the emoji option from keypad, the updated WhatsApp version will have a GIF option alongside that lets you attach the animation of your choice. Having been linked to online search portals for convenience, you can search for GIFs from services of
the likes such as GIPHY.

Or if it is a video from your library that you wish to share, select the video of your choice from the gallery. Once you click on the option to “Send,” you can choose between the video icon and GIF. Since the animation can only be shared with a duration of 6 seconds, you would have to select your choice of the 6 seconds from the video clip to share the same. This was released in WhatsApp’s earlier beta v2.16.293 version that released in October last year.

While there were other players in the game who had already introduced the GIF option, WhatsApp had to speed up to stay ahead of the game. The extensively used instant messenger app had built a dedicated following and wouldn’t have to worry about losing users, but having that extra feature wouldn’t hurt! Initially only released for Android devices, the Facebook owned developer was quick to work on the same for iPhone users. You can search and embed the animations of your choice with options in plentiful gathered from specialized search engines such as GIPHY and Tenor.

There is another notable update that comes with the GIF-sharing option. You can also share upto 30 images in one go, as opposed to the limit of 10 in the earlier versions. For the ones who had to previously flick through the gallery way too many times to share photos of vacations with friends can now do it just in a couple of go’s.

But one thing that goes without saying is the new GIF update adds a tempting new option for WhatsApp users looking to make even the blandest conversations dynamic and engaging!

Mobile Upgrades: Killing The Product Before Its Time?

Have to agree. The speed of newer phone models within the same series and newer app versions lead to more thought put into buying decisions. Phone lines have a definite short shelf life
