Xiaomi’s New Redmi Note 4X – Yay or Nay?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 had created quite a buzz when it hit the market in late 2015. Some have even gone ahead and called it the model that put the manufacturer on the map in the Indian market! While many might say it is hard to follow that up in a tech world that has something new released every few weeks, the Redmi Note 4 did justice to it. And Xiaomi has followed that up with the striking Redmi Note 4X, released on Valentine’s Day.

The look is sleek and stylish, still nothing that makes it stand out in the sea of iPhones and Galaxy’s but one that a millennial wouldn’t mind making a phone call on. The device comes with a beautiful 5.5 inch screen. The touchscreen phone weighs 165 gm ad boasts of a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. While the 13-megapixel camera is quite good, the front camera for selfies is a mere 5-megapixel, a disappointment for many.

The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X comes with a 3 GB RAM and a standard 32 GB internal storage that can be extended up to 128 GB with a micro SD. There were rumors earlier that the phone is expected to have a 4 GB RAM which boosted its popularity even further, before the release. But the 3 GB RAM with an expandable 128 GB storage is no disappointment either. It has been rumored that Xiaomi might be planning to introduce the same in China with a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage.

As for the functioning, the phone comes with an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update that functions smooth & a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor to ensure you have the least of glitches. Amidst all these features, you will find that the battery is one that takes the cake. The non-removable 4100mAh battery promises better functioning with power that lasts longer. When some might say is a lack of resolution in the selfie cam, it is compensated for with a brilliant battery life.

Apart from Matte Black and Platinum Silver Grey, the phone also comes in Champagne Gold and Cherry Powder. With all the features, the USP of the Redmi Note 4X remains its price point. You get this power packed phone in the range of about Rs 14,000. Some might say that in a market that’s filled with tough competition and new designs every fortnight, it is quite high. But Xiaomi has earned a dedicated following post the Redmi Note 3 which indicates that the Note 4X too might become quite popular among their dedicated audience.
