Yi Technology Launches the Yi 4K+ Action Camera

One of Xiaomi’s first investors, Yi Technology recently unveiled its new Yi 4K+ action camera.

Touted as the first camera that can capture videos of a 4K quality at 60fps (frames per second), Yi Technology has certainly captured the market. The Chinese company made a statement well before the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2017, saying that it would launch their new action camera at the global trade show, as a direct competitor to the current market holder, GoPro.

Yi 4K+

It is worth noting that the majority of other competitors to the Yi 4K+ currently offer only a range of action cameras that are capable of capturing videos of 4K quality at 30fps. As this is half of the frame rate that the Yi 4K+ offers, it is no wonder that the company has a leg up.

This freshly-launched action camera is fitted with a ‘retina’ touchscreen display of 2.19-inches for viewing your videos. It also has a battery that has a capacity of 1400mAh. The new Yi 4K+ action camera runs on a powerful Ambarella H2 chipset. Powering the action camera is an ARM Cortex-A53 quad-core processor, along with a RAM of 2GB. The camera is also fitted with a 12MP Sony IMX377 image sensor.

The Chinese company claims that the Yi 4K+ has an integrated support for voice-commands. Additionally, it should also offer an improved audio quality for outdoor use and even allow users to wirelessly control the action camera using a hands-free device. The range of other features seen on the camera includes live streaming, a support for virtual reality and electronic image stabilisation (EIS).

As for the connectivity, the Yi 4K+ is fitted with low energy Bluetooth 4.0, a USB Type-C port, a USB 3.0 port and a G-Sensor. The wide array of accessories for the Yi 4K+ include a handheld gimbal and waterproof housing. All accessories are compatible with the Yi 4K+ according to a statement made by the company on their official page.

While Yi Technology has not officially announced what the price of the new action camera will be, users can expect the Yi 4K+ to be priced roughly around Rs. 20,500 as its predecessor (the Yi 4K) was priced at approximately Rs. 17,100.

For all those looking for an action camera, this seems like a good alternative to the GoPro. However the full review of the product will reveal the product’s true qualities.

Have to agree. The speed of newer phone models within the same series and newer app versions lead to more thought put into buying decisions. Phone lines have a definite short shelf life

Frequently upgrading the software is a real problem as updating the software might cause your phone to lag because of the older hardware.

They should come out with upgrades for the specific phones and not for the separate Operating System. This way a special version for your phones specific hardware can be made
