Zenfone Max 3 : Review

Asus recently announced Zenfone Max 3 decedent of its legendary high battery phone Zenfone Max. Zenfone Max 3 has a 4100 mAh battery which is less than its older version Max which had 5100 mAh battery which lasts more than 4 days, still Max 3’s  battery is 33% more than other phone. Apart from that Zephone Max 3 has a metal unibody construction which gives it a premium look for its probable price range. The phone has dual micro SIM slots, both GSM.

Display

This new phone has a 5.2 – inch of the IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display which has 282 ppi pixels density which entitles the 1280 x 720 pixels of the screen resolutions to this newly announced phone. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection over the display to protect the screen from scratches.

Network

This mobile phone is enabled with GSM/HSPA/LTE technology; 2G, 3G and 4G bands with GPRS and EDGE. You can get speeds of HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE Cat4 150/50 Mbps. The mobile has WLAN (Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot), Bluetooth (v4.0, A2DP, EDR), GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS), FM radio and microUSB v2.0.

Memory

Memory unit of the device is equipped with the 3 GB of on-board RAM with the 32 GB of internal in-built memory. Along with that it has a microSD card slot which can be used for the further expansion of storage capacity of this device up to 256 GB.

Camera

This device is embedded with a 13 MP of the rear facing primary camera with features like Optical Image Stabilization, laser / phase detection auto-focus, touch-focus, geo-tagging, HDR, panorama and Dual toned Dual LED Flash light. Laser Auto focus sensor is not on back of this phone as we find it with other Asus phones. The front camera is 5 MP Selfie shooter which is having HD video recording feature.

OS and Processor

The phone will run on an octa-core 1.5 Ghz Cortex-A53 processor which powered by the Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 SoC integrated with Adreno 405 GPU graphic card. This device runs on Android Marshmallow v6.0.1 with Asus Zen v3.0 User Interface on the top.

Sound

Phone is having loudspeaker on its back side. For enhanced sound experience, the noise handset has 3.5 mm jack which has Active noise cancellation. The Asus Zenfone 3 MAX has square fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro sensor, proximity sensor and compass. Regular features like SMS threads, MMS, Email, Push Email and IM are present in this handset. This sleek mobile will be available in titanium grey, glacier silver and sand gold colors and will be priced at approx. Rs.13500/-.

As the handset is not yet available for sale in the Indian market, we are yet to have any hands-on experience. However, with scaled down screen size and an attempt made to give a premium look to the phone may attract the users.

Mobile Upgrades: Killing The Product Before Its Time?

Have to agree. The speed of newer phone models within the same series and newer app versions lead to more thought put into buying decisions. Phone lines have a definite short shelf life

Frequently upgrading the software is a real problem as updating the software might cause your phone to lag because of the older hardware.
